Fr. Vincent Fortunato, O.F.M. Cap, along with two other honorees, received the Guadalupe Award on June 18th, 2009 from the Institute of Priestly Formation at Creighton University in Omaha NE.
Fr. Vinny has worked at the Institute for 13 years teaching with Fr. Joseph Kelly, a seminar training priest, in giving spiritual direction to seminaries around the world. They have guided almost one third of the priests who are current members of the Federation of Seminary Spiritual Directors in the United States and Canada.
“The Institute grants its highest award to men and women who have given witness with their lives to the efficacy of listening and responding to Mary’s call to live Jesus’s life in our day,” said Rev. John Horn, S.J., D.Min., presenter and a founder of the Institute. Recipients were presented with the of Our Lady of Guadalupe medallion at a liturgy in Omaha.
Fr. Vinny’s accomplishments in teaching Spiritual Direction for the Institute and at different
seminaries were also recognized.
