The "magic" word ephphtha is spoken to us today in a similar and different way. Jesus has a special touch, and he always touches us at the right time in the right place. There is an old railroad story about a brand-new train's engine that would not start no matter what the engineers tried. So they called in an expert from the mechanical company which manufactured the engine. The expert arrived, studied the situation, and then he gave the locomotive a light tap with the hammer. It started right up. When the railroad engineers received the expert's bill of $1,000, they asked for it to be itemized. The reply came: Hitting the locomotive with a hammer - $1, knowing where to hit - $99. Jesus is the expert and knows how to fix us at no charge!
