The apocalyptic style of today's gospel seems to be quite scaring. Let us not forget that the literary forms at the time of Jesus and before, were quite allegoric and utopist. I like to think that the last judgment is going to be an act of love, rather than an act of justice. God is not going to ask us how many times we did not do the right things, but rather how much we loved. My thinking is corroborated by Psalm 16, when King David thanks God and the writer of the letter to the Hebrews (10:11-14,18), who speaks about the Eucharist. The center of our belief in God is God made flesh: the one who died for you and me. Our life as well as our death would not make sense at all without HIM!
