Job (38:1, 8-11), Mark (4:35-41), and Paul (2 Co 5:14-17) develop the concept of fear as part of our lives. If we think we have no fears to deal with, we are in denial. Becoming aware of our fears and taking control of them make us stronger. Denying our fears becomes a paralyzing experience and makes us fragile and weak. Job, for instance, is someone who searches for answers. His friends failed to comfort him; with friends like these who needs enemies? It seems that God does not offer any answer or explanation. It seems that Satan is in control and that is the first and most dangerous deception of our fears. The truth is that the devil is not in control of our actions and feelings, we are, and God makes his way in after all. Let’s not forget that FEAR is an acronym for False Evidence Appearing Real.
