The Epiphany is an extension of Christmas, but it is different from it. Christmas celebrates the incarnation of the Son of God, Epiphany emphasizes the manifestation of his birth. At Christmas we celebrate the birth in the flesh, at Epiphany we concentrate on the earthly manifestation of the eternal generation of the Word. The Epiphany story becomes the history involving the mystery because of the unfolding of things previously undreamed or unheard of, for instance: "In Christ Jesus the Gentiles are now co-heirs with the Jews." (Eph. 3:6).
