On the last Sunday of the year 2023, the church brings to our attention the Holy Family. Politicians talk about family values frequently, but I really do not know what they really mean. I do know what God means: first, being together for better and for worse; second, growing together through conflicts, joy, and pain. The word "family" comes from the Latin "Famulus," meaning "servant." Third, the best is yet to come. A famous sculptor was once asked, "What is your best and greatest statue?" Without hesitation, she answered, "The next one." Here is a thought for the end of the year:
Nothing is finished, no one has arrived yet, the best book has not been written, the best song has not been composed. All these things are still waiting for you and me to do.
Happy New Year - Fr. John A.
