Nine Holy Masses beginning on February 14th, Ash Wednesday
"In this life Jesus does not ask you to carry the heavy cross with Him, but a small piece of His cross, a piece that consists of human suffering." --- St Padre Pio
Dear Friend, the Lenten season will soon be upon us. In fact, Ash Wednesday will be early this year- falling as it does on February 14th.
During this very holy season, we Catholics take a pause in our lives to reflect on the agony of Our Lord, as well as on its significance: the suffering of humanity, redeemed by Christ's glorious Resurrection.
Our beloved Padre Pio advised us that Lent offers a perfect opportunity to take stock of our lives. For us Capuchin Friars this is especially true. While we meditate on the meaning of Christ's suffering, we look within, seeking to rededicate ourselves to our faith and to the good work we endeavor to do.
As we embark on this annual period of contrition and supplication, we here at the Province of the Sacred Stigmata of St. Francis will start on February 14th by celebrating a Lenten Novena of Masses. I invite you to to join us by clicking on the button below and typing your intentions to be placed in the Chapel at Our Lady of Guadalupe Friary where the Friars have daily Mass and prayers.
And at the same time I ask you to click on the Lenten offering button below to include a gift to support our work. Your generosity helps us reach out to the poor among us, to the homeless in our inner cities, to so many unfortunate men and women who count on our spiritual and physical support.
Lent is a season of loving sacrifice, of denying ourselves for the sake of others in need. Ultimately this is a celebration in preparation for sharing eternal life, a gift which Padre Pio often noted demands very little in comparison to what it offers in return.
I invite you to join with us spiritually during this most holy season. In imitation of the beautiful example set by St. Padre Pio, please heed the call of Christ in your heart. Remember, God cannot be out done in generosity. Whatever we offer God and our neighbors in sacrificial love will yield many blessings in this life…and the life to come!
P.S. When making your donation please consider becoming a monthly donor… your pledge will greatly benefit the poor and unfortunate.
Peace & Blessings,
Fr. Robert Williamso DiSalvatore, OFM Cap.
